Action 4 – Assessment of conservation index, mating plans and breeding management
The aim of this action is the investigation of both genetic structure and kinship in nucleus populations after microsatellite genotyping (Action 2, task 2.2). The goal is studying and suggesting conservation indexes according to the average kinship between a single bird and the whole population in order to minimize inbreeding coefficient (∆F) with specific mating schemes and to foster the conservation of the maximum variability still present in the nucleus populations . Furthermore, the assessment of the molecular kinship among breeders allows to set up mating plans suitable for minimizing the expected average kinship in the breeding nucleus.
The partner UniTO is in charge of Action 4 in collaboration with partners UniPG and UniPD.
